If you are a national of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland, you do not need a residence permit, but you must register with the police within three months of your arrival in Norway. The Norwegian embassy in France does not handle visa or residence permit applications.

Alcohol can only be bought in state-run shops and is very expensive. And no beer after 8pm on weekdays, or 6pm on Saturdays!

By train (NSB): comfortable and sliding scale fares: the longer the journey, the less you pay!
By bus: numerous and complementary to the trains:
- Nor-Way Bussekspress: operates from Kristiansand to Trondheim, as far as the North Cape.
- Boreal: serves the whole of Finnmark
By air: 45 airports throughout the country.
Domestic flights are operated by the national airline SAS, but also by Norwegian, Widerøe and other small local airlines...

From April onwards, the days get longer as the summer solstice approaches, and the midnight sun can only be seen above the Arctic Circle.

From September onwards, night takes over: around Christmas, there are 3 to 4 hours of light equivalent to a rainy day in France. However, the aurora borealis and the white of the snow help to brighten up the landscape.
Vaccine
Make sure you are up to date with the recommended vaccinations, such as those against hepatitis A and B, typhoid fever and routine vaccinations.
